Obituary

Marvin Glenn Williams, affectionately known as "Smokey" to his friends and "Uncle Smokey" to everyone else, was born on April 12, 1948, in Camilla, Georgia, to the proud parents, the late Shed Peterson and the late Gussie Lee Williams.

Marvin received a formal education from Mitchell County School System.

Marvin relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida.  Once in St. Petersburg, he became employed by the De George Asphalt Company.

Marvin was known to his family as "Smokey" and he was known to everyone under his age group as "Uncle Smokey".  He would always stress the importance of family sticking together and loving each other.  He was widely admired for vivacious personality, flirting with the women, his quick wit, and his dry humor.  He was never lost for words.  If you knew Marvin, you knew how much of a loving person he was and in some type of way he would leave a lasting impression of himself with you once he walked away.

After briefly, but courageously battling his illness, Marvin peacefully departed this earthly existence on July 6, 2025.

Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Marvin G. Williams, Jr. and one brother, Eldophas Williams.

Mourning his passing but forever cherishing his love and memories are:  four sons, Reginald (Karen) Williams of Bainbridge, Georgia, Alonzo (Ann) Williams of Brownsville, New Jersey, Marlon Williams of St. Petersburg, Florida, Brandon (Eve) Williams of Sonia, Georgia; three daughters, Valerie (Dewayne) Williams Murphy of East Orange, New Jersey, Bree Williams of St. Petersburg, Florida, D'Andrea Williams of Clearwater, Florida; his bonus daughter, Patricia Maxwell of Jonesboro, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four brothers, Morris (Linda) Williams of St. Petersburg, Florida, Waymon (Jennifer) Williams of St. Petersburg, Florida, Raymond Williams of St. Petersburg, Florida, Willie C.
