She said, "oh, Lord!' as she took her final breath at 2:39 p.m., on August 6, 2019. Mary Nell Graham Macon said good-bye to her earthly home as she transitioned to her Heavenly home.
Mary Nell Graham Macon was born on December 25, 1925, to the late Lillie Alford Graham and Benjamin Graham, Sr. Yes, she was a Christmas baby, who was a gift to everyone who knew her. She was a loving, giving and caring godly woman. As a mother, she was the joy of her children's eyes. She was a Christian soldier.
At an early life, she confessed her life to Christ and united with Hall Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla, Georgia. She was a graduate of Rockdale High School in Camilla, Georgia and attended Savannah State College. Soon after that she was married and had seven children over the years. In 1958, the Macon Family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she lived until her sunset.
In 1960, Mary Nell united with the First Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, Florida, where she served as a faithful and dedicated church member. She was a Sunday School member and Supervisor of the Junior Ushers, until her health began to decline. She was a hard worker who worked many jobs. She retired from General Electric in January, 1989. Mary Nell loved sewing and working in her yard.
Mary Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Alford Graham and Benjamin Graham, Sr., five sisters, Janie L. Peoples, Hannah Crittle, Lessie Graham, Lillie Crawford and Sarah Willingham; five brothers, Benjamin Graham, Jr., Shelton Graham, Tobie Graham, Samuel Graham and Willie B. Graham, and a niece, Lessie Crawford Wesley, who she reared.
Mary Nell leaves to cherish her memories...one daughter, Louise Macon Stroder of St. Petersburg, Florida; six sons, Willie B. Macon, III (Mary), Melton Macon, Reginald Macon, all of St. Petersburg, Florida, Elijah Macon of Albany, Georgia, Isiah L. Macon, Sr. (Peggy) of Fairburn, Georgia and Joshua Macon (Linda) of Henderson, Nevada; grandson she reared, Derrick L. Macon (Erica) of Parker, Colorado; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; goddaughter, Sarah Rich; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
