Mary Dawson Morman, 81, a loving wife, mother, sister, auntie and friend, entered into eternal life on Thursday February 26, 2026, at Emory Hospital Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mary was born July 17, 1944, in Camilla, Georgia, to the late Mr. John L Dawson and Mrs. Eula B, Dawson. She was the third of four siblings. She joined Brown Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church at a young age and served the Lord faithfully wherever she lived. Mary graduated from Camilla Consolidated High School in 1962 and attended Albany State College.
Mary married her high school boyfriend, Frank Morman Jr, of Baconton, Georgia in September 1963 and became an Air Force wife. Together they toured the world. She accompanied him on assignments to Japan twice, Italy, Alaska, Florida, California, and finally to Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta Georgia, where they retired in 1993. Mary relished the role of a military wife and mother. She participated in chapel worship services wherever she went. She was a strong advocate for programs that helped improve the quality of life for Air Force families and often represented their interest at conferences held at higher command levels.
Mary was a faithful, dependable and hardworking member of Bethel CME Church in Valdosta, Georgia. She served on the Missionary and Stewardess Boards at Bethel and the District and Episcopal District level. She loved singing in the choir and just being totally involved in church work. Mary believed strongly in community service and worked on several boards and committees in Valdosta. She was especially committed to the South Georgia Medical Center Langdale Hospice House Advisory Board where she served for more than 15 years. Every country or state that she lived in she always attended church and was involved in the community to help others.
Mary affectionately called by her family “Mary Lou” enjoyed life. She loved to cook and even more, she enjoyed cooking for others. She was lovingly competitive and she loved winning!!! Mary loved plants and flowers. She had more than a green thumb, she had green hands. She could grow just about anything. She was a diehard Atlanta Falcon Fan and would don her Falcon attire while tailgating and attending 49er games at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.
