Mary Lee Crawford Thompson, daughter of the late Cadwell Crawford and Lillie Davis Crawford, was born April 4, 1933 in Camilla, Georgia. She was the youngest of six children.
At an early age, she confessed CHRIST and united with the Hall Missionary Baptist Church.
Mary attended Rockdale High School. After completing high school, she moved to Miami to live with her sister. There she met and married Tony Thompson who was from Nassau Bahamas. After marrying Tony, she attended college in Miami. She taught school for several years and also opened a bakery. After living in Miami for several years, she later returned home to Camilla. After returning home for about twenty-five years, she was stricken with several strokes. She was placed in Pelham Parkway Nursing Home with her mind continuing to be good.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, and siblings Dorothy Arline, Willie May Wilcox, John Henry Crawford, Wiley Crawford.
She departed this life on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home in Pelham, Georgia.
Those left to cherish her memories include two children, John L. Owens of Tallahassee, Florida and Connie Thompson of Miami, Florida; a sister, Lorene C. Moore of Camilla, Georgia; two brothers, Clinton (Margaret) Smith of Daytona Beach, Florida, Artis (Marion) Redden; a devoted niece, Sarah P. Burns of Camilla, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
