IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ozie Bell
Thompson
October 1, 1935 – October 17, 2023
Ozie B. Thompson was born October 1, 1935 in Mitchell County, Georgia, to the late Lodie Bell Brown and Marcus Anderson.
At an early age, she confessed CHRIST and joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She later became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.
Ozie was a 1955 graduate of Columbus High School. She loved to read her bible, do hair and cook. She most definitely had her choice of words. As a homemaker, she diligently cared for the needs of her family. She was blessed not only with children, but grandchildren and great grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride in her life. The family shared many happy and precious moments together and truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
Ozie was united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie M. Thompson. To this union seven children were born.
Loving mother, caring sister, nurturing aunt, reliable cousin, and compassionate friend, Ozie was a good natured and generous lady with a big heart, and a pleasure to be around. In her family, she was the "calm in the storm—the glue that held them together." She believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping and caring for others. Her friendliness and kindness to all people and her devotion and love for her family and friends are lasting tributes to the beauty of her heart and soul. Her presence will deeply be missed by all who had the privilege to have known her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, two sons, three sisters, and three brothers.
God's angel peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
She leaves to cherish her memories, five sons, Larry (Marion) Thompson of Bluffton, South Carolina, Kelvin (Rena) Thompson of Savannah, Georgia, Calvin Thompson of Camilla, Georgia, Markus Thompson, Kenyetta Thomson of Camilla, Georgia; one sister, Willie Beatrice Dukes of Albany, Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Tahisha Thompson of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren she reared in her home, Centrell Vicks of Albany, Georgia, Tadarryl (Sheena) Thompson of Murfressboro, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews, grands, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and godchildren.
