LIFE PROFILE

REGINALD GARRARD , was a proud native of "The Volunteer State," having been born in Murfressboro, Tennessee, August 14, 1953.

Reginald moved to Camilla, Georgia at the age of seven, attended the public schools there, and graduated from Mitchell County High School in 1971.  He then attended Fort Valley State College, graduating from there in 1975 with a B.S. in elementary education.  He later received his master's in middle grade education from Georgia Southwestern College in 1994.

He was the eldest living of four children.  His parents were Hilda Garrard Inman and the late William Garrard.  After his father passed when he was three, his mother was fortunate to meet and marry Hugh Inman, his stepfather who was one of the best parts of his life.  He was  forever "Daddy."

Reginald was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church where he held the position of pianist, former Superintendent of Sunday School and gave his services when and wherever it was needed in his church.

Reginald retired from teaching in 2007 after thirty-three years in the profession.  Since 2008, he was employed with Mitchell Newspapers, Inc., first as a reporter, then a general manager, and was currently, as publisher of both The Camilla Enterprise and The Pelham Journal newspaper of Mitchell County.

Reginald enjoyed being around people.  This desire motivated him to become a member of the NAACP, the Kiwanis and Mitchell/Baker REA.  He also would attend several other organizational meetings in Camilla and surrounding communities.

Reginald had various interests that included music, movies, travel, working out, writing reviews on Amazon, and reading.  He always enjoyed dancing and did have the opportunity to perform as one of the parents in an area production of "The Nutcracker."

In The Garden

I come to the garden alone, While the dew
is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
the Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own.
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

And He walks with me, and He talks to me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Tho the night around me be falling;
But He bid me go, thru the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling

And he walks with me, and he talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
