IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Vinson
Wheeler, Jr.
April 11, 1938 – May 3, 2022
Robert Vinson Wheeler, Jr. was born in Camilla, Georgia on April 11, 1938 to Mr. Robert V. Wheeler, Sr. and Sadie Mae Wheeler. He entered into peaceful rest on May 3, 2022. He was the second child of his parents and grew up in the Greenough Community where he served at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Camilla, Georgia. He received salvation in Jesus Christ and started serving in the church at an early age. In his younger years, he served as an usher then head of the usher board. In his later years, he served faithfully as a deacon and choir member until his health started to fail.
On December 15, 1956, Robert Wheeler met Annie Belle McBurrows and they began a journey that would span over 65 years. On July 28, 1957, Robert Wheeler married Annie Belle McBurrows in Doerun, Georgia and from that union they were blessed with seven children.
Robert worked in many jobs throughout his life and although not formally educated, he had a gift of problem solving especially when working with numbers, cars, trucks, or lawn mowers. Robert worked for Palmer and Bostick the majority of his adult life and retired from there in mid 2000s.
After his retirement, he spent many days enjoying some of the things he loved including watching wrestling, western movies, fishing and singing. He was gifted with an amazing singing voice and in addition to singing in the church choir, he sang for over 50 years with the Dixie Jubilaires.
Robert and Annie Belle raised their seven children in the church. The family followed their father using their gift of singing and formed the group "The Wheeler Family". The Wheeler Family sang gospel music around Southwest Georgia for more than 10 years. In addition to singing and serving in the church, Robert also instilled in his children a hard work ethic. His children and grandchildren have earned more than 30 educational degrees including PhD, Masters, Bachelors and Associate degrees. His legacy includes professional working in nursing, computer science, engineering, education, management, banking, medical science and health administration.
As we celebrate the 84 years Mr. Wheeler was here in this earthly realm, we know he can now join the heavenly choir. He will be remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His legacy, life story and impact will be forever cherished by those he leaves behind.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sadie Wheeler, brother, Marshall Wheeler, Sr. (2020), and oldest daughter, Sheila D. Wheeler-Marcus (2005).
He leaves to celebrate his life and mourn his death, his wife, Annie Belle Wheeler, Snellville, Georgia; his sisters, Wylene Tolbert, Albany, Georgia and Earlene Johnson of Camilla, Georgia; six of his seven children, Luella C. Wheeler-Ikuesan (husband Samuel Ikuesan) of Snellville, Georgia, Sharon A. Wheeler (husband Landon Bell) of Lilburn, Georgia, Kenneth Dale Wheeler (wife Nova Wheeler) of Mobile, Alabama, Linda Robbett Wheeler-Smith of Thomasville, Georgia, Robert Darrell Wheeler (wife Cynthia Wheeler) of Fayetteville, Georgia, Dana Keith Wheeler (Suzette Wheeler) of Conely, Georgia; special niece, Wylene Jackson of Camilla, Georgia. His legacy also includes his grandchildren (20); great grandchildren (11); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, church family and friends.
We are blessed to have had the opportunity to know Deacon Wheeler, Mr. Wheeler, Mr. Robert, Uncle Jr. or just our dad. Sleep on servant of God, Your Day Has Closed -- Take your walk down the streets paved with gold.

At The Close of The Day
As We Kneel Down to Pray
We Ask the Lord to Keep Us Strong
And Forgive Us for Our Wrongs
After It's All Over
Just Let Me Walk Down the Streets Paved with Gold
Just Jesus and Me.
