Obituary

The funeral service of Rosa Lee Chandler Johnson, will be conducted Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, 144 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Baconton. Reverend Lawrence Knighton will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews.

Active Pallbearers will be Martin Barnes, Norris Brown, Charlie Bush, Ernest Price, III, Billy Williams, Kenneth Williams.

Rosa Lee Chandler Johnson was born January 18, 1932 in Mitchell County, Georgia. God visited her hospital room on February 4, 2010 and called her home. Her parents were the late Mr. H. C. Chandler and the late Ms. Daisy Daniels. One sister, Mrs. Addie Lee Wallace; two brothers, Mr. Willie C. Sipling and Mr. Johnny B. Chandler, preceded her in death. She was the last remaining sibling.

Rosa Lee received her education in the Mitchell County School System. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. James Johnson, Sr. To this union three children were born; daughter, Rosa Carter, sons, James Johnson, Jr. and Larry C. Johnson.

She joined the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Later she joined the Christian Life Fellowship Church, where she served faithfully until her death. She has held many positions at Christian Life. At the time of her death she was the Mother of the Church and often called "A PRAYER WARRIOR" by her church family.

Rosa Lee was well known in this community because of the many deeds done by her. People would still call on her to ask for recipes for different foods. She was well known for her cakes and pies.

She worked many years for the Nut Tree Pecan Company where she was responsible for transporting many women workers from the Baconton area.

She was a member of the Baconton Community Choir, where again her driving skills were called upon. She enjoyed every minute of her service.

Rosa Lee leaves to mourn her passing, daughter, Rosa Carter, Baconton, Georgia, son, James Johnson, Jr. (Betty) Worth County, Georgia, son, Larry C. Johnson (Willie Mae) Forsyth, Georgia; stepdaughter, Emma Jean Williams, Valdosta, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Victor, Vernon, Damon, Corey, Erica, Chambray, Lakeisha, Larry, Jr., Brian and Cedric; twelve great grandchildren; a special cousin, Marie Quimby, Baconton, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Leila Mae Lee, Albany, Georgia, Annie Mae Kendricks, Annie Lois Moore, Tampa, Florida, Willie Pearl Chandler, Baconton, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Willie B. Sharp (Marlene) Tampa, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She will always be remembered for her early morning wake up calls to her family and friends.
