Rosa Lee Bell Johnson-Marcus was born to the late Mr. Ernest Bell Sr. and the late Mrs. Lizzie Ida Edmond-Bell on February 25, 1921. She joined the Habakkuk Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Emmie C. Johnson. To this union five beautiful daughters were born. She was later married to the late Mr. Clarence Marcus.
She was a dedicated member serving on the kitchen ministry and ushered for many years, until she could no longer serve. She loved attending the Home Mission Baptist Association and mission meetings. She was the Mother of the Church. Rosa enjoyed socializing at the Baconton Senior Citizen Center where she was known for her exquisite quilting. She worked for many years at RCM Enterprise, and later babysitting (home, alongside her daughter Ernestine, and then Garden Angel Learning Center). She was an exceptional seamstress, creating many of her children's dresses.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Artie Bell-Johnson; one sister, Lucile Bell; five brothers, Lonzie Bell, Henry Bell, Eddie J. Bell, Robert Lewis Bell, and Willie Frank Davis.
Surrounded by her love ones, she departed this life on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
She leaves a legacy and loving memories that will be cherished forever. Five daughters: Ernestine Burley (the late Jimmy Jr.), Lizzie Ida Robinson, Retha Mae Williams-Simpson, and Linda Lou Robinson (Charles), fifteen grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, fifty-four great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Bonaparte, Dorothy Ross, Linda Amos; one brother, Amos Bell (Chyleen).
