Ruby Louise Martin Alexander was born on May 6, 1923 to the late Mary Ruth Clayton and Zeke Martin in Pelham, Georgia. She slipped away into eternal rest on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Agape Health and Rehab of Moultrie, Georgia.
At an early age she joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health started to decline.
She attended Mitchell County Training School.
On February 9, 1943, she married William C. B. Alexander, who preceded her in death. To this union three children were born.
She was a devoted wife and mother. She served her community by working with the youth at Pelham Recreational Center doing ceramics for many summers. She also served in the community through her work with the WOBAS Club in various activities.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Gwendolyn (Phillip) James of Savannah, Georgia, Phyllis (Freddie) Hall of Pelham, Georgia, Willa (Ronald) Varella of Hampton, New Jersey; an aunt, Aaron McKinnon of Pelham, Georgia; a sister, Lillian Spencer of Pelham, Georgia, who spent numerous nights with her during her illness; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Roulhac of Pelham, Georgia and Ruby Alexander of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Marci (Derrick) Martin of Atlanta, Georgia, Ava Hall of Pelham, Georgia, William Hall of Savannah, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Deshi Yonah Crimley and A'Myria Crimley of Pelham, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends.
