Ruby Dean Ross-Florence was born September 2, 1952 in Camilla, Georgia to the late Elijah Davis and Ruby Lee Ross.

Ruby Dean was a 1970 graduate of Camilla Consolidated School.  Her employment history included being a patient care technician at Mitchell County Hospital.  She also worked as a correctional officer at Juvenile Detention Center in Pelham, Georgia.

Ruby Dean's prize accomplishment was rearing her beloved son.  She enjoyed taking care of others especially her family.  Nothing meant more to her than her family.

In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Melissa Ross.

She departed this life on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memories a beloved son, Mustafa Israeel (Shantel) Muhammad of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Rosalyn Williams of Miami, Florida, Teresa Elaine Quimby of Camilla, Georgia, Connie Lynn Metcalf of Thomasville, Georgia; brothers, Elijah Davis of Miami, Florida; James Norris Shelton, Kenneth Earl Shelton of Camilla, Georgia; Horace Lee Shelton of Winston Salem, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; special uncles, Mathis Ross, Freddie Ross of Camilla, Georgia, Jimmy Ross of Spartanburg, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
