The funeral service of Ruby Lee Williams will be conducted Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Jester Mortuary. Dr. Joe R. Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakview Cemetery.
Ms. Ruby Lee Williams was born on February 27, 1906 in Mitchell County, Camilla, Georgia, as one of fifteen children to the late Emanuel Williams and Molly Ford Williams. There she grew up and attended the local public schools. In her early adult life, Ms. Ruby accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour.
On Tuesday, May 18, 2010, Ms. Ruby Lee Williams, age 104, departed this life to join her fourteen siblings, both her parents, and her late daughter, Mrs. Annie Ruth Teasly of Miami, Florida.
As a young woman, Ms. Ruby left Camilla and went on to spend the major part of her life between Miami, Florida and Buffalo, New York, where she worked and enjoyed the time spent there with her daughter, her brothers, sisters, relatives and many friends. However, she would return "home" to Camilla, Georgia often to visit the rest of her siblings and other beloved family and friends who still lived there and whom she held near and dear to her heart. Eventually, during her retirement years in Miami, Ms. Ruby relocated back to Camilla where she spent the remaining years of her life.
Ms. Ruby leaves behind to mourn special nieces, Doris Sheppard, Ollie (Polly) Williams, Linda Blackshear, Tricia Edmonds, Ruth Carter; special nephews, Chris Sheppard, Clay Sheppard, Bryan Sheppard, Victor Carroll; a host of other sorrowing nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors.
