Obituary

Saundra Hall Jester, was born on October 10, 1941 to the late Lee Hilson Hall and Mary Davis Hall in Baker County, Newton, Georgia.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Green Grove Christian Methodist Church, Newton, Georgia.  After relocating to Albany, Georgia, she joined Weldon Springs Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend John H. Harris.  Saundra was dutiful in the church, and sang in the Senior Choir for years.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Jerome P. N. Jester.  To this union, one son was born, Jerome P. N. Jester, Jr.

Saundra received her early education through East Baker Elementary and High School, Newton, Georgia.  She continued her education at Ft. Valley State College and later Darton State College where she studied for Dental Assistance.  She worked over three decades with Dr. Bayes, Dr. William Berry, and Dr. Edgar Parker as a Dental Assistant.  Saundra also found pleasure and joy working with the Southwest Georgia Council on Aging until she became disabled.

Her call home came on March 9, 2015 at Columbus Specialty Hospital, Columbus, Georgia.

She leaves to mourn her husband, Jerome; a devoted son, Jerome, Jr.; two granddaughters, Ja'Maya Faith Jester and Kamia Ivy Jester; seven siblings, Bessie Jean H. King, Albany, Georgia, Carolyn H. Burns, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mary Ann H. (Buddy) Green, Columbus, Ohio, Annie Mae P. Carter, Charlotte, North Carolina, Victoria Hall, Walter M. (Celia) Hall and Alexander (Tonya) Hall of Albany, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a special friend, Frances Stroble.

You were a precious gift from God above,
So much beauty, grace and love.
You touched our hearts in so many ways,
Your smile so bright even on the bad days.

You heard God's whisper calling you home,
You didn't want to go and leave us alone.
You loved us so much, you held on tight,
Till all the strength was gone and you could no longer fight.

He had called your name before,
You knew you couldn't make him wait anymore.
So you gave your hand to God and slowly drifted away,
Knowing that with our love we will be together again some day.
