Benjamin Williams, Sr.

Pallbearers will be U.S. Army Soldiers.
SFC Eddie Benjamin Williams, Sr. (affectionately known as Potrow) was born on September 4, 1970 in Mitchell County, Camilla, Georgia to the late Eddie Lee and Willa Jean (Sally) Williams. Eddie was the youngest of 3 children.
Eddie was educated in the Mitchell County School System and is a 1989 graduate of Mitchell-Baker High School. He was pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Phoenix.
At a young age, Eddie made the decision to join the church and thus became a member of the Beulah Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Grady Pinkney at that time. October 1982, Eddie enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 18 years. Eddie also served 3 tours of duties in his military career: Bosnia during the Gulf War and 2 tours to Iraq. Eddie was a decorated soldier in the United States Army. Because of his dedication and commitment, Eddie was to be presented with several other military awards which include the Bronze Star Medal in which he received during Operation Iraqi Freedom, two Meritorious Service Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, five Good Conduct Medals, and a Combat Action Badge.
SFC Eddie Benjamin Williams, Sr. made his transition from time to eternity on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in Ft. Bliss, Texas.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Lee and Willa Jean Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Vontrelle. Four children, Eddie Benjamin Williams, Jr., Edrianne Brenae Williams, Kahlia Lawrence, and Kennedy Stewart. Two sisters: Brenda Germaine and Bridgette Lorraine Williams. One nephew: Owen Burroughs III, one maternal grandmother, Ola Mae Perry; mother-in-law, Lorraine Thomas; father-in-law, Victor McCord; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Victor Jackson, Maurice Jackson, Victoria McCord, LaShonda McCord, Marcus McCord, Tracy McCord, NeNe McCord, Darnell McCord, Heather Thomas, Peaches Thomas, Terrance Scott; four uncles, eight aunts and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, (namely Ricky Vicks who was like the brother he never had), friends and other relatives.
He heard the call of his country;
And answered it brave and true;
"I'll be a man to do or die;
I'm going to help them through."
The Great Commander has written his name;
On the roll of him who gave;
His Only Begotten Son;
And died that we might live.
He paid his debt to his country;
In the fight for right he has won;
And the King of Kings has spoken:
"Thou faithful one, well done."
