Susie Mae (Shug) Johnson, daughter of the late Robert Lee Johnson and Hattie Mae Johnson, was born November 15, 1955 in Mitchell County, Georgia.
Shug grew up in the home with her mother until 1980 when her mother was called from this earthly home to eternal home. At that time she was being home school. As Shug then moved to live in the home of her aunt, Susie Frazier, for four years, she too was called to her eternal home. Shug had started going to the Mitchell County Training Center that she loved dearly and remained in the home under the caregiver of Betty J. Sharp for twenty-four years.
She loved going to church, dancing and listening to the word of God. She grew up in a home where quite a few babies came down through the line. She was a very good baby sitter. She also helped clean house. She learned so much from the kids that she help raised. Shug had a beautiful remaining life with Betty and family. She loved dressing up and going places; that she and Betty did to the end. She really had a love for people.
Her health declined several months ago. Shug was admitted to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia for the first time in her life for about three weeks. After man saw he had done all he could, Susie was released to come home for about four days. God felt her pain, and saw her tears. The road had gotten rough. It was then God called her from this earthly home to her eternal home on Monday, November 17, 2008.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving first cousin, mother, caregiver, Betty F. (Sammy) Sharp of Baconton, Georgia; three brothers, Robert (Shirley) Johnson, Jr. of Camilla, Georgia, Henderson (Lillie) Johnson, Roosevelt Johnson of Baconton, Georgia.
