The funeral service of Theodore "Bruh" Bostick, will be conducted Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at the Robert Jester Mortuary. Reverend Charlie Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oakview Cemetery.
Mr. Theodore Bostick was born October 25, 1914 in Mitchell County, Georgia, to the late Lovie Bostick.
As a child, he attended the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Baconton, Georgia, until he moved away.
Early on, Theodore was a share cropper with a mediocre education. However, he was self-educated with a very sharp mind.
He was united in holy matrimony to Louise Dooley for a short while. To this union, there were no children.
Mr. Bostick was a shipyard worker in Mobile, Alabama and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for many years. Later on he worked at North Charles General Hospital. He last worked for Marshalls stores in the shoe department.
On June 13, 1959, Theodore married Ms. Mary Jones, who preceded him in death. To this union, one son, David, was born.
Mr. Bostick adored his grandchildren and loved sports, particularly baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers (formerly the Brooklyn Dodgers), he would often remind you.
He lived in Baltimore, Maryland for more than fifty years. On November 11, 2003, he moved to Birmingham, Alabama with his son and family, after his wife's health started to fail.
Mr. Bostick resided at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Birmingham, Alabama. He was admitted to Trinity Medical Center on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, for respiratory complications. On Thursday morning, November 13, 2008, at approximately 3:40 a.m., he was called to rest.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ella C. Bennett, Lula Mae Pinkins, Emma C. Jones; and three brothers, Jesse Bostick, Jay Bostick, W. H. Bostick, and Ellis Bostick.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, David (Wendy) Bostick of Birmingham, Alabama; five grandchildren, Benjamin Bostick, Daniel Bostick, Gabriel Bostick, Hannah Bostick, and Sarah Bostick all of Birmingham, Alabama; one sister, Lucille B. Butler of Camilla, Georgia; a special nephew, Robert (Sam) Pinkins, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
