Obituary

Deacon Thomas Williams, Jr., was one of eight children born to the late Thomas Williams, Sr. and Willie Mae Ellis Williams on November 4, 1937 in Mitchell County, Baconton, Georgia.

Deacon Williams confessed CHRIST at an early age and joined the St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend R. D. Wynn.  In later years, he joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jermaine King.

On July 12, 1959, he was united in marriage to the former Bernice Houston.  To this union one child was born.

Affectionately known as Jr. Manson, Mr. Williams was employed as a Coal Equipment Operator at Plant Mitchell from 1966-1992.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Vicky Williams; three sisters, Helen Ferrell, Matilda Dunlap, Willene Richardson; a brother, William Lamar Quimbly.

He departed this life on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

With memories he leaves to cherish, one daughter, Patricia A. Williams Jones (Curtis) of Albany, Georgia; two beautiful granddaughters, Quajulon O. Williams Thompson (Leroy), Kajayla K. Jones of Atlanta, Georgia; wife of sixty-two years, Bernice Williams of Albany, Georgia; two sisters, Mercedes Sanders of Baconton, Georgia, Ruth Haynes (John) of Albany, Georgia; one brother, Julius Williams (Diane) of Albany, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Alice Quimbly of Augusta, Georgia; a lovely stepbrother, Henry Quimbly of Baconton, Georgia; a special devoted friend, Deloris Daniels of Baconton, Georgia; a special cousin, Charlene Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvnia, who devoted her summers to Uncle Big, Jr.; special friends, Louis Moore of Baconton, Georgia, Pastor Jermaine King, D. K. Grissom of Camilla, Georgia Shaft Martin of Pelham, Georgia; confidante, Dewayne Burley of Camilla, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
