IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Venica
Douglas
December 30, 1976 – June 3, 2025
"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens."
Niecy's Favorite from Whispered Words of Encouragement:
God says to His children: Are you lonesome? Breathe out My name. Come to Me and I will be your friend. Are you left out of things? Feeling rejected and pushed aside?
Come home to Me. -Alice Chapin
A Time to Embrace: Always an independent, strong, sweet, friendly and beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend, Venica's beautiful smile and laughter lit up our souls. She was a joy to be around. Her presence was felt and filled with love anytime you were around her. Niecy never met a stranger and enjoyed conversing with those that she encountered. She was indeed a "talker" and loved engaging in spirited conversations with family and friends.
A Time to be Born: Venica Douglas, affectionately known as "Niecy," was born December 30, 1976, in Miller County, Georgia, to Alzenia Douglas and Charlie Douglas, Jr. She was the oldest sibling and only daughter born to this union.
A Time to Learn: Venica was educated in the Baker County School System as well as the Mitchell County School System. She graduated from Mitchell-Baker High School in 1995. Niecy also attended Darton College in Albany, Georgia.
A Time to Plant: Venica gave her life to God at an early age at New Salem CME Church in Baker County, Georgia.
A Time to Build: Venica worked as an associate at Walmart in Albany, Georgia.
A Time to Weep: Venica was courageous and strong as she battled many things in life. She fought the good fight and kept her faith in God. After a lengthy illness, Venica departed this life on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. God called her home to rest from labor here on earth. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ike Sheffield and Euzeria Bush Sheffield and her maternal grandparents, Charlie Douglas, Sr. and Roberta Douglas.
A Time of Peace: A caring and devoted daughter, Venica leaves to cherish her precious memories: a loving mother, Alzenia Pate (Freddy); a devoted father, Charlie Douglas, Jr. (Janas); three beloved brothers, Ronald "Tiger" Douglas, Donald "Bo" Douglas and Freddy A. Pate; aunts, Beverly Ann Sheffield (Bennie), Annie Mae Bush (Clifford), Gennie Douglas Rogers (Johnny), Estella Douglas and Anne Jest (Lyndon); uncles, Earl Douglas (Lynn), Fred Douglas, Carvin Douglas and Lamar Bush; two nieces, Lanashia Douglas and Akeria M. Douglas; one nephew Malik Pate; a special companion of many years, Walter Burden; and a host of cousins and friends that loved her dearly. Venica's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Her soul touched our lives in the most beautiful ways, ones we will never forget.
Niecy, you will be missed immensely.
