Waymond Sanders died Saturday, August 29, 2009, at his residence.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, September 5, 2009, at 12:00 noon, at the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, 144 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Baconton. Interment will follow in Saint Mary Memorial Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Active Pallbearers will be Ahmad Daniels, Alonza Dunlap, Carl Dunlap, Adrian Sanders, Edrick Sanders, Willie B. Sanders.
Waymond Sanders, Sr. was born on January 19, 1937 to the late Willie Sanders and Lena Mae Angry Sanders in Lee County, Georgia.
On Saturday, August 29, 2009, God called him home to his eternal resting place.
He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Saint Mary Baptist Church in Flint Community, Baconton, Georgia.
Waymond was educated in the Mitchell County School System and achieved great success in the community, workplace and several business ventures. He retired from Merck & Company in 1995 after 25 years of service.
After retiring from Merck & Company, his entrepreneurial skills
took charge and he dedicated his life to helping those that were less fortunate. He owned and operated Daylight Grocery in Albany, Georgia for over fourteen years and impacted many lives in the local community.
Mr. Sanders was united in holy matrimony to the former Mercedes Williams for nearly 50 years of marriage. To this union six children were born.
Preceding him in death include two brothers, Willie Ed Sanders and Jerry Sanders; one sister, Daisy Mowatt.
Waymond leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Mercedes Williams Sanders of Baconton, Georgia; six children: Attorney Waymond Sanders, Jr. (Emily) of Kennesaw, Georgia, Joe A. Sanders (Sharon) of Fairburn, Georgia, Jacqueline L. Sanders of Union City, Georgia, Beverly Sanders Morman (Harrison) of Powder Springs, Georgia, Cynthia Sanders Milburn (Micheal) of Atlanta, Georgia, Kelvinald D. Sanders of Fairburn, Georgia; seven brothers, Herman David Sanders (Deborah) of Miami, Florida, Earnest Sanders (Eucella) of Mary Esther, Florida, Arnold Pittman (Trudy) of Miami, Florida, Willie B. Sanders and Roger Sanders of Albany, Georgia; six sisters, Essie Randall, Jeanette Sanders, Betty Sanders and Donnetta Sanders all of Albany, Georgia, Evelyn Chester (Samuel) of Fort Valley, Georgia, ten beloved grandchildren, Adrian Jamaal Sanders, Sartoria Lashon Sanders, DeKarris Radahn Morman, Yakira Elana Morman, Maya Mercedes Foster, Edrick Armond Sanders, Ahmad Rashad Daniels, Ramona Yvette Sanders, Alaye' Monet Sanders, Joe Alan Sanders, Jr.; three adoring great grandchildren, Martel Sanders, Jatoria Sanders, Jahrod Sanders; a host of caring brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
