Obituary

Wendolyn Delaine Thomas, affectionately known as "Laine", was born to the late Sadie Mae Saxon-Thomas and Charles Thomas, Sr. on April 18, 1954 in Camilla, Georgia.

She gave her life to CHRIST at an early age at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Laine graduated from Mitchell County High School Class of 1972.  She was a graduate of Thomas Technical Institute with a specialized diploma in Business Office Specialist in 1999.  This afforded her the opportunity to work for over ten years in Labor and Delivery and the Baby/Mother Floor at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Working at Phoebe Putney was one of the joys in Laine's life, where she worked until a stroke rendered her disabled.

Later in life, Laine moved her membership to the congregation of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member serving in the choir as her health permitted.  Laine loved to sing and was particularly fond of mass choir style singing.  Laine loved St. Mary's choir and her wheelchair lift.  She spoke of the children at St. Mary with fondness, and was delighted by the youth's praise team, and youth Service on Second Sunday.

Laine took great delight in living and fellowshipping with family and friends.  She loved and laughed out loud.  She began her high school musical career under the tutelage of CCS famed band director, Mr. Fulton, where she played the clarinet and also was a part of the marching band during her time at Albany State College.

Laine was preceded in death by her biological parents, Sadie Mae and Charles Thomas, Sr.; her mother, Lillie Mae Ross; brothers, Jeffery Ross, Sr., Hughet Thomas, O'Shay Thomas, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Ordette Tracelle Thomas of Camilla, Georgia; nine siblings, Charles Thomas, Jr. (Devilynn) of Augusta, Georgia, Marion Wayne Thomas of Camilla, Georgia, Henry "Hank" Thomas (Brenda) of Albany, Georgia, Winston Ross of Camilla, Georgia, Barbara Smiley-Williams of Winton, North Carolina, Ethel "Patsy" Jackson of Camilla, Georgia, Ruthie Mae Thomas Brown (Rodney) of Camilla, Georgia, Katrina Thomas Spence (Ulysee) of Camilla, Georgia, Cassandra Thomas Hampton (Merritt) of Camilla, Georgia; sister-in-law, Judy Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; aunts, Gladys Florence (Richard), Willa Hunter, Annette Williams, Christine Arnold, Bonnie Saxon, Saundra Saxon; uncles, Royce Carter, Ken Saxon, Willie Saxon; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; bonus children, Ian and Candace; special friends, Gwendolyn Hemmans, Ann Bryant, Evonne Burns, Jennifer Hicks, Deidre Harris, Lanora Wallace, LaQunta King, Corretta Jackson, Mattie Lallemand, Angela Lawson and Vince Lawson.
