IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Willie
Williams
January 4, 1938 – November 12, 2019
In the city of Camilla, Georgia, on January 4, 1938, God blessed Albert and Louise Williams with their sixth child, a baby boy which they named Willie Williams.
Willie was educated in Camilla, Georgia graduating from Camilla Consolidated School in 1957. In school, he was very proud of playing on the football team and singing in several groups, when he was not picking cotton and picking up pecans. After high school, he had a short stint with the United States Army.
In 1963, he moved to Miami, Florida in search of a better way of life for himself and later his family, Reggie, Allan and Beverly. He obtained his first job in the big city with Associated Groceries. So excited about his new life he told several others about all the opportunities there, and they later would move to Miami where he opened the Williams' home as a starting place for them until the would get on their feet.
In 1964, he obtained employment with Miami Dade County Transit Authorities (Bus Operator). After retirement and to keep himself busy, he was able to work for the University of Miami as a Mail Courier and later a parking attendant.
While working was important, his walk with CHRIST was just as important. He was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Miami, Florida, under the leadership of the late Dr. Samuel Atchinson and current pastor, Bill Strange. At Mount Calvary, Willie served on Usher Board #2, and the male chorus, where you could hear him leading two of his favorite songs "Jesus Be a Fence" and "When The Gates Swing Open". Willie served faithfully at Mount Calvary until his health and hearing began to fail him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Allan; two sisters and three brothers.
On November 12, 2019, the gates swung open for Willie and he was able to walk in.
Memories of Willie will forever live on in the hearts and minds of his children, Reggie (Alvildia) Williams, Beverly (Calvin) Joyner; grandchildren, Bryan and Brenton Williams, Kory Joyner; an ex-wife, Pineese Williams; brothers, John (Wilma) Williams, Charlie (Eleanor) Williams, Patrick Logan; several nieces and nephews; a special family friend, Debbie Johnson.
